Information We Collect
We collect account information such as name, email address, username, and authentication provider details. We also process receipt-related spending records, budgets, subscription metadata, cloud sync records if enabled, technical and device information needed to operate the service, and optional community price comparison submissions that you choose to share.
How We Use Information
We use collected data to create and secure accounts, scan and organize receipt information, categorize spending, support cloud sync when enabled, process subscriptions, restore purchases, improve reliability, prevent abuse, and respond to support or privacy requests.
Apple and Google Sign-In Data
If you choose Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In, Making Cents receives limited identity data from that provider, such as your email address, provider user ID, and display name when available. We use that data only to create your account, authenticate you, secure access, and support account recovery.
Google user data is used only for authentication and account-related operations within the app. Making Cents does not sell Google user data, does not use it for advertising, and does not use it for purposes unrelated to the app's user-facing functionality.
Community Price Comparison Data
Community price sharing is optional. If you enable it, the app may submit selected purchase details such as product name, merchant, category, price, currency, and purchase date so we can provide community price comparison features.
Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information. Data may be shared with service providers needed to operate the app, including hosting, authentication, analytics, and push notification providers, or when required by law.
Account Deletion and Retention
You can initiate account deletion from within the iOS app in Settings. When you delete your account, we delete account-connected records such as sign-in identities, tokens, sync history, device registrations, subscription records, and community price submissions associated with your account. Receipts stored only on your device remain on that device unless you delete them or remove the app data.
Data Retention and Security
We retain personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, to satisfy legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect account and transaction information.
Your Choices
You can use the app in local-only mode, choose whether to enable cloud sync, choose whether to share community price data, manage subscriptions through Apple, restore purchases from within the app, and contact us regarding access, correction, or deletion requests.
